A spring trip to An Ji

An Ji is a north county in Zhejiang, famous for its bamboo forests. The mountains are covered with bamboo and people make a living from bamboo forests and its byproduces.

People “own” some part of the mountain and its produce. They write marks on their properities.

Spring is the season of harvesting the bamboo. Farm workers are hired to cut the bamboo, slide them down along the hill and finally hand/shoulder carried down to the main road where bamboo is sold and trucked away.

Year’s gone on and on. The young generation migrate to the cities and make a living in town. Only the seniors stay in the village and keep their way of life.
